The first proper live Replacements album captures the influential alt-rockers at their artistic peak, at legendary New Jersey club Maxwell's. The set is heavy on material from then-recent Tim and Let It Be, arguably their finest records. The band was notorious for its onstage unpredictability, but this set contains the perfect balance of chaotic (the punky roar "Takin a Ride") and melodic (gritty but pop-savvy "Can't Hardly Wait"). It's a quintessential evocation of the moment when youth's raw angst collides with adulthood's nuanced ache.
