Jaymes Young’s heartfelt, confessional pop songs trace the highs and lows of young love. And his long-awaited debut album is an emotional rollercoaster. “Don’t You Know” uses gritty electric guitar and galloping drums to drive home the torture of one-sided feelings (“Don’t you know that I’m going mad?” he belts with frantic urgency, “Don’t you know I want you so bad?”), while “We Won’t,” a dreamy synth-pop duet with Phoebe Ryan, makes peace with calling it quits.
