About Hoodie Allen
As a former child actor out to reinvent himself as a hip-hop MC, Connor Price knew he faced challenges when it came to building cred. Born in 1994 in the Toronto suburb of Markham, ON, Price boasts a style that shares the playful flair and love of storytelling of one of his hip-hop heroes, Lupe Fiasco. Yet he initially released his music anonymously when he made the transition from starring in TV shows like Being Human and X Company to pursuing a rap career in the late 2010s. The resulting attention gave Price the confidence he needed to pursue his musical ambitions. Interest in him grew when he rapped an open verse to a freestyle by Idris Elba, an online connection that yielded the 2021 hit "Courteney Cox." More viral successes followed when Price initiated Spin the Globe, a project in which he collaborates with artists from randomly chosen corners of the world. When not trading rhymes with new friends from places like India, Brazil, and the Netherlands, Price found partners closer to home when he connected with Toronto MC Haviah Mighty for the 2023 single "Trendsetter" and showed off his rapport with fellow internet rapper Nic D on Till Next Time, a collaborative EP released the same year.
