About Sammy Adams
Descended from two American presidents, Boston rapper Sammy Adams emerged as a key figure in the “frat rap” scene of the late 2000s.
• In 2009, while a senior soccer captain at Trinity College in Hartford, Samuel Adams Wisner recorded “I Hate College,” a cynical take on fellow rapper Asher Roth’s hit “I Love College.” The song quickly surpassed a million plays, kickstarting his career.
• His 2010 debut Boston’s Boy went Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart. The LP upset some members of the city’s hip-hop community, including rapper Slaine, who questioned the newcomer’s street cred.
• In 2012, Adams featured on Enrique Iglesias’ “Finally Found You,” a No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart and a No. 24 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
• His 2013 EP Homecoming, released on RCA, nearly cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 album chart.
• The rapper split from RCA and released his 2016 debut album, The Long Way, independently.
