Songwriter-producer Chaz Bear (née Bundick) has proved himself one of the preeminent chillers of the 21st century, wedding the body of R&B to the head of ambient music, making grooves strong enough to dance to and plush enough to nap in. Channeling quiet storm, electro-lite (“Inside My Head”) and the loungey side of Prince (“Mirage”), Boo Boo is—like all Bundick’s projects—a pretty, late-night affair, combining the haze of his early albums with the loose, live-band sound of more recent projects.
