《Magdalance》取自圣经中的人物抹大拉的玛利亚，她被认为是在耶稣复活后的首位见证者，但同时也曾被一度误读。在经历了手术和分手后，FKA Twigs 在制作这张专辑的过程中从这位圣经人物的身上找到了一些慰藉，并将痛苦转化为力量投入到专辑中，创作出这张流淌着神圣感、艺术性和音乐性的作品。
